Meeting My Father – Part 2

(Part 2 of a father’s journey to meet his own Dad for the first time. For Part 1, click here)

Before I go any further, I need to mention my Mum's parents who raised me after Mum died. Once I was in their care, I could not have had a better upbringing. Nan has gone now too and my father figure growing up was my Granddad. A finer gentleman does not exist. My father in law is also a welcome and very strong influence in my life. I am very lucky.

Podcast - The Good Men Project

Our fabulous DIYFather podcaster Dave Smart recently had a chance to interview Tom Matlack - one of the founders of "The Good Men Project". The Good Men Project is about Real Stories from the Front Lines of Modern Manhood - published as a book and created with a complementary DVD. The material is an anthology of thirty-one essays by a broad range of men—rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight, urban, rural, famous, ordinary—all writing about the challenges, obstacles, triumphs, failures, and defining moments they encounter. Collectively, their experiences help to define what it means to be a man in the US these days.

A Prime Minister and a dad - interview with John Key

Our fabulous author Dave Smart recently had the opportunity to slip in a few questions for DIYFather in his monthly interview with John Key (you probably won't know who John Key is but he is actually the Prime Minister of New Zealand ... honestly ... google him). They had a nice chat about what it's like to be a Prime Minister and a dad, and also talked a bit about the anti-smacking law that's currently a hot debate in Kiwiland.
In the interview you'll hear a few funny revelations from John about his kids, household chores and how he uses his mobile phones.

Listen to the interview with John Key, Dave and Camille here.

If you would like to listen to the whole interview (28 minutes) and check out the video that goes with it - hop over to Dave's blog here.
