Check out our global directory of father support groups. Lessons a father teaches his son

There was one lesson I got to give my son that I had dreamt off for many years, it would be a proud moment for me, a sign of my son talking his first steps into manhood. I got to give my 13 year old son Christian, a lesson on shaving! There was resistance, he wanted to hold onto the strip of fur on his upper lip, it had taken him 13 years just to get that far! I assured him that once you start shaving there is no going back, shaving will now become a regular activity. With tools in hand and shaving gel on lip, Christian faced the mirror and with careful concentration shaved off 13 years of growth from his lip. He washed the remaining gel from his face and experienced the cold tingling sensation of a wet shave. He did suffer one wound, it was his first go and the blade was brand new… there will be many more to come. “Good on you son, you will now be doing that for the rest of your life” What a great Father’s Day gift, being a part of my sons first steps to manhood. - Eric

I completely agree, it is more than ever important for fathers (parents) to guide their children to use new technologies in the right way.
As parents we don't have to know how the latest stuff works, just that we can entrust our children to use that technology in the safest possible way

thanks for the post! this is a good article. So true, as parents, we must always look for teaching opportunities. good parenting requires observation. be sensitive to your children's needs and desires, and look for chances to teach your children how to manage their lives.
