Many kiwis and parents the world over who followed the life of Kyah Milne, heard about the end of her journey and battle with cancer this week. There has been tremendous support for Kyah in NZ and overseas, and many tributes have been paid to her this weekend. So I'd like to add mine and send a special THANK YOU note to Kyah's parents Jason and Shanell who decided to share Kyah's journey on the web. Through their blog, Kyah and her family have inspired thousands of people around the world and have given others hope and encouragement.
Blogging about your children's lives is a great way to share special moments with others. Sometimes it's not that easy though to decide what to share and what to keep private. In Kyah's case I can image how that would be particularly difficult on some days. On top of that, it's also a lot of hard work ... especially as life with young children is usually more than busy enough as it is. All the more I admire Kyah's family who have posted almost every day (or sometimes several times a day) to keep everyone up to date and who have share many personal moments.
Perhaps one of the hardest things with blogging about your children is to find the right words. Kyah's mother's last blog entry is a beautiful example for all bloggers on how to do this:

- Our beautiful baby girl took her last breath at 11:55am and passed peacefully with Jason and myself right beside her.
She has gone to a place where she can run and play just like any other 'almost three year old' can, where she is surrounded by butterflies and Polly Pockets and where she is no longer in pain.
Thanks for being there with us.

Thank you for sharing.
