About Us

DIYFather.com is an online interactive forum for dads that offers resources, discussion groups and practical information about parenting from a male perspective. DIYFather.com was brought into this world by Wellington-based dads Scott Lancaster, Eric Mooij and Stefan Korn who recognised the need for a dedicated website for fathers. Based on their own experiences of struggling to find useful parenting related information specifically aimed at dads they created DIYFather.com.

The main purpose of this website is to assist men become the best fathers they can be.
DIYFather has 3 principles to achieve its vision:

  1. use stories not stats to inspire and encourage fathers to spend time with their children

  2. provide practical examples and be non-judgemental aiming to support every father independent of their parenting choices

  3. reach fathers through online social networking and look at the funny side of parenting where appropriate

Scott Lancaster
Scott is the founder of diyfather.com. He is the father of baby girl Pyper and is married to Renee, who gave birth to Pyper in July 2007. After discovering how little parenting information was available for fathers, Scott approached the other two directors, who helped him build DIYFather.com. When not involved in DIY Father, Scott looks after Pyper full time and also helps Renee with her business. Scott has
an Applied Science degree majoring in Agriculture and comes from a farming background. Before moving to the city to go into business, Scott spent most of his time working for farmers. This is where he learned his practical approach to different situations.

Eric Mooij (pronounced Moy)
Eric is father to Nastassja (14), Christian (13), Amber (12) and most recently baby girl Ava. Although he is not living with Nastassja, Christian and Amber full-time, he has regular contact with them and supports his kids in every way possible. Eric is keen to ‘make a stand’ for families. Coming from a broken family himself and having relived this situation now with his own children, he is working hard to be a positive role model. Outside of DIYFather.com, Eric works in IT Management.

Stefan Korn
Stefan describes himself as one of NZ's "e-vangelists" - he is very passionate about e-Commerce and the Web, and in general loves getting involved in new businesses. His partner Raquel gave birth to their son Noah in May 2007 and the experience of becoming a father as well as the challenges of looking after Noah have prompted him to come on board DIYFather.com to help make a difference in the parenting space.

In addition to diyfather.com, Stefan runs his web investment company WebFund and helps his wife with her business Sí Spanish Language Institute. Stefan has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and an MBA in International Business. Stefan is also actively engaged in community projects and enjoys tutoring at Wellington Community Education. Outside of his professional engagements and family he enjoys a bit of DJing and (st)roller blading.
