Check out our global directory of father support groups. DIY with dad - stirling engines

Do you remember your school project days when you would make all sorts of incredible gadgets out of junk (well we used to anyway). One of these projects was to build a simple Stirling Engine ... check out the following and explain to your kids why the wheel keeps spinning (click here if you need some help with the explanation :-) ). Even better - build one yourself (there are lots of instructions on the web and on youtube). Stirling engines have been all but forgotten for many decades as the more powerful internal combustion engines have taken over the world. But recently interest has resurged as people are looking for alternative energy sources and Stirling Engines are more efficient and versatile than most other types of heat transfer based engines. So definitely a nice little research or DIY project with the kids. Enjoy, Stef Trackback URL for this post:http://diyfather.com/trackback/1788

Yeah well I'd be interested
Yeah well I'd be interested to find out what other amazing things I could have included in an article to prompt dads to look up Stirling Engines and explain it to their kids ...
Any suggestions welcome
