A message from our new CEO
My name is Jeff Smith. I am the new CEO at DIYFather.com. Four years ago I was lucky enough to experience the birth of my only child Ryan. Ryan came into the world screaming, kicking and at what seemed like 1 million miles per hour. Over the years I experienced that the father role doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
Stages seem to fly by, one minute crawling next running, next Ryan is throwing himself with complete confidence into swimming pools. Being a dad is great fun and a HUGE responsibility. I know that I wouldn’t want to miss out on any of the action. That said, any tool that I can get my hands on to make life easier as a father has got to be a good thing.
One thing the founders of DIYFather.com noticed in the wonderful world of fatherhood was a lack in practical tools and information for fathers.
Information, practical advice and ‘community’ among fathers were almost non existent when DIYFather.com started. True – up until recently fatherhood was pretty much a hands off job. Today however dads want to be a lot more involved in lives of their children from the word go. And good on them! More often than not men are accompanying partners to scans, midwife appointments, straight through to the delivery suite and onto the first nappy change.
DIYfather.com has set out to provide practical tools and information to dads worldwide to help men become the best fathers they can be. Imagine a world where every Dad was connected and engaged with their children. What would the prison population look like then? How many unwanted pregnancies would there be? What would children’s school grades look like if dads took a keen interest? Dads can and do change the world.
To reach these goals DIYfather.com has several exciting projects in development whose sole focus is to enable men to be engaged dads. This is where I come in – I will deliver these projects.
I look forward with excitement in being a part the DIYfather.com story. DIYFather and its partners are all about passionate people who really do want to make a difference in the world. We are in the unique position of being a viable social enterprise whilst at the same time providing services that will make a real difference to the world.
I am lucky enough to have spent the last eight years in CEO roles in provincial Chambers of Commerce. This included growing and developing organisations and recruting business membership to ensure that the ‘little guy’ (mainly small businesses) had a say in the environment in which they work in. Drawing on my past experience I am looking forward to making a contribution to the rapid growth and expansion that DIYFather is experiencing.
