Father's Day activity with your kids - Daddy's Shoe Keepsake

4 days to go to Father's Day and if you're stuck for ideas on what to do with your kids - check this out!

This year on Father's Day, why not make a keepsake with your child along with a fun memory? Your child will love the idea of getting to paint something that normally we would say “NO!” to. Even better, the little DIY project will create a wonderful memory of doing something with your child on Father's Day. You can hang it up as a piece of art (and sell it for millions in a few years when your offspring is famous).

You will need:
* Construction paper (white or a light color)
* WASHABLE Paint (1 color for each shoe)
* Sponge or paintbrush
* Daddy's left shoe (yes, that's YOU ... take off your left shoe ... do it now!)
* Left shoe from each child

Step by step instructions:
1) First find a place where you can be worry-free with paint (I'm sure you know what we mean by that).

2) Now, lay your paper down on something flat. With the sponge or paintbrush, paint lightly all over the sole of the "Daddy" shoe.

3) Once the sole is completely covered, place the sole of the shoe down onto the paper as if you were walking heel to toe. Press down all over the shoe making sure all of the edges of the sole touch the paper.

4) Next, put your finger at the corner of the paper closest to the heel and lift the shoe heel to toe. You have just demonstrated to your child how to make the shoe print.

4) Now it is your child’s turn to do the same thing to their left shoe. Have your child do the same steps with their shoe in a different color of paint. If you have more than one child, have the largest shoe go first. When they place their shoe onto the paper, your child needs to place their shoe print inside of your shoe print as if they are walking in your tracks.

Once all of the prints have been made you can place a title onto the paper with a marker.

Now you can get REALLY creative with finding an appropriate title for your work of art. Here are some suggestions:

* Following In My (Our) Daddy’s Shoes
* Following In My(Our) Father’s Footsteps
* Big shoes to fill
