An adventure with dad - first trip to the cinema

If you're a movie-buff dad (like me) you probably can't wait to take your little champ to the cinema for the first time. It's such an awesome experience (and relatively cheap compared to many other frills) that going to the cinema has got to be one of the all time favourite "things to do with the family". So what's a good age to take junior to the cinema for the first time? Who knows ... I believe it depends on what interest they are showing to TV/DVDs, how long the film is (and how long they are likely to be entertained by it), the film itself and probably how they are feeling on the day. We took our little 3-year-old to see Shrek 4 the other day ... and it worked a treat. He loved the whole experience, looked really cute in the huge comfy cinema seat and he was eating popcorn pretty much the whole way through. He easily lasted the 90 minutes and was all smiles for the whole time we were there.

Dad - take me to the movies

If you've been looking for an excuse to take your kids to the movies - here's a good one. "Where the wild things are" is out! Based on one of the best loved books for children by Maurice Sendak - the adaption of Where the wild things are is a classic in the making! Check out the trailer and make it a grand day out with the kids ...

Enjoy

Dad tip - going to the cinema with a baby

You've recently had a baby, you've managed to get through the first few months and have got the hang of it ... now you are wondering where to find some "us" time and when your nightlife is going to return? Here's a great tip for new parents who can't or don't want to leave someone else in charge of bubs while they're out for a well needed break from the routine. Go to the drive-in cinema and take bubs with you!

Hey don't knock it till you've tried - there are some obvious advantages:

1) If your baby is crying chances are he'll fall asleep on the way to the drive-in
2) Your baby stays with you at all times - if he wakes up just go round the drive-in a couple of times
3) You can eat in the car, snuggle up, snog ... watch the film while bubs sleeps in the back seat
4) It's a change of scenery - so you're practically out (beats just getting a DVD or watching something on telly)
